I’m all for choice and freedom but I worry that our children don’t have shared experiences— like the strip discusses, but even tv shows. Was a time we ALL watched Mork & Mindy or Friends and could have conversations (however meaningless) about these things. Unless they are sports fans, there aren’t many leisure activities that a majority of kids have been exposed to. I’ve got one kid who’s into a specific genre of anime and one kid who enjoys a very narrow selection of YouTube. Neither of them know others who share their taste. An embarrassment of riches and none of it bringing us together.
