The perfect song was old gangsta rap. That’s good to know, because I never listen to gangsta rap and therefore have no fear of feeling inadequate in writing my own music.
Personally, my wanderings on the internet tell me that its impossible to have that one thing (song or anything else) that is universally liked, because there will always be that one knucklehead that for some reason hates it anyway.
With so many “musicians” motivated by the desire for money rather than any hope of writing a perfect song, what difference would it make to them? Even perfection gets boring after a while.
