oh, the horror

Yeah, it’s not as though you have American football, basketball, or hockey to obsess over for the next six months!

I’m liking the US Womens Soccer, and the NWSL

But football/ hockey/ basketball seasons have begun!

I wonder what it must be like in countries where they don’t have a seasonal change of sports and don’t play football (American, anyway), baseball, hockey or basketball. They have one prime national sport: Soccer (our name for it) and maybe one or two lesser like cricket and rugby. Drive thru their cities and see one sports complex: A soccer stadium. How dreary to not be able to sit on the couch (literally) every day of the year and watch a sporting event take place.

I’m a Reds fan. Baseball season was done by the end of April. But I still watched/listened to most of the games because I must be a masochist!

As a Cubs fan since 1963 (and with ancestral memories going back to 1908), I’m liking this year for a change.

I wonder if professional sports are just an elaborate plot to encourage people to become statisticians.

I wonder if it opens the same way as it did in the Pilot of Desperate Housewives

Baseball is a talking sport!

Bit early still – World Series is still on for The Most Boring Game Ever Invented.

I did think up, years ago, how to make TMBGEI interesting – have the pitcher just throw the balls as quickly as he can. Don’t give the batter a chance to ‘set up’ – what kind of nonsense is that? It even spilled over into football (20 minutes of action packed into 4 hours!). Just go at each other! Both teams know what they have to do!

It ain’t over til it’s over. Go Cubs!
