For those of you like UsFellers whom have been reading Meggs for a long time, you might recognise the reference to the 1945 cover of the Sunbeams Annual (Issue 22):
Yes, todays strip is also a reminder of Ginger’s high standing in Australian folklore.
There were 35 Annuals issued from 1924 to 1959, with no issue for 1951. James Kemsley issued several collections of strips later on and kept the numbering sequence up to 39. Complete sets are highly prized.
Fans would be well advised to keep a copy of today’s strip for posterity.
