The flurries and slush and cold are TOTALLY ANNOYING! Spring is nice, especially when it rains, and so is fall when it rains, but I’ll take summer all year around if I had my “druthers”! :-).

Hey, are any of you people being bothered by Stink Bugs? They are out “en masse” this fall! Last year, we had just a couple in the house, and I said, don’t kill them, because first of all, that’s why they are called stink bugs, just put them outside. This fall, we have SO MANY! Even my office is getting several calls a day, “what do we do about them” they ask? That is under the realm of the Extension office, but it tells me, they are bad this year!

And of course, they came in from Taiwan, on some kind of shipment and proliferated, and there is no chemical to date that can get rid of them, other than DDT which was outlawed some years ago!

Dry, I haven’t seen a stink bug since I left Texas. Sometimes there are simple things to deter pests. For instance, I’ve heard that ants are driven away with peppermint oil. Maybe something like that can drive away the stink bugs.

Well according to what has been researched there is nothing at the moment, that is truly effective. They are just so annoying!! I was emptying a load of laundry and 4 of them flew out from the basket! Plus they STINK to high heaven if you kill them inside the house! And then they fly by your ear and you think there’s a bee beside your head! And they are all over the screens on the doors and windows and the cats are going nuts! LOL !Now that part is FUNNY!!!

Cleo Right now, I think I would give up my summers and move there! They are so ANNOYING!!! I can’t believe they were in Ontario! They seem to like heat, in fact, I just took clothes out of the dryer and there was one in there, dead as a doornail! Must’ve died before hand because there were no stains or smell! And I inspected everything!! Nasty litttle S H I T S!!!

**Poor (((Dry))), you have them bad. I did some research too and there is not really too much you can do. I did read that making a concoction of liquid hand soap and water in a spray bottle will kill them. I would try that because there are no nasty chemicals. I kill ants in my kitchen with a spray bottle filled with liquid dish detergent and water. I just wipe up the dead ants with a napkin and toss it in the trash.

Oh I shall be busy next week at work! We don’t deal with pest problems but people call my office all the time about bats in their attic, bears at their bird feeders (well DUH!! That’s a no brainer in summer!), trees that are dying, and my ALL TIME FAVORITE “we live beside a farm and the farmer is spreading manure on his fields, and the smell is just terrible! We want to know what we can do to stop him or file charges, etc. etc.” AND THEY ALL, EVERY COMPLAINT, comes from people who have moved from Pittsburgh or Philly to move to the COUNTRY LIFE!

I was watching the original “Jeepers Creepers” slasher movie, we all were, it was summer, all our windows were open, it was around 1 am when it was over. It freaked me out so much, only other movie that did that was Ray Milland in the Man with the Xray Eyes when I was about 10. Anywho, I was so freaked, I ran around and closed and locked all the windows and doors! My guys thought I was nuts!
