Yesterday was a beautiful but cool day, lots of blue sky. Today they tell us is more of the same. :-)
.
He was a captain who loved to clown around, his friends included a farmer, a moose and rabbit even a clock.
I know it’s not much to go on but, I think you’ll know him.
.
My usual Saturday grocery shopping. We’re still waiting for the Walmart in Derby to open. Derby is the town that borders with Newport city and the Newport-Derby road is where all the bigger stores are. You know how that goes.
Did you know that Bob Keeshan who was Captain Kangaroo was also Clarabel the clown on the old Howdy Doody Show?
.
Off to the RV show today with a quick drop in at the quilting group to drop off the borders I have finished. I have at enough pieces for at least 6 more sets already sorted out by color groups and 2 of those already set in patterns and ready to sew.
.
It is supposed to get up to 90 today, so sun screen and a hat are in order. We will take the mobility scooter so Michael can get around easier. He has only so much stamina in that ankle of his, so he rests it as much as he can and is only on his feet to climb up into the RVs. Who knows, we may end up with a brand new rig. Probably not, though.
I loved Captain Kangaroo! Did you know that Eli Wallach was a guest on one episode as “Farmer Eli”? That was such fun to watch this incredible actor play for the kids!
.
I’ll be praying for Michael, Jan. ………… …Everyone else have a great day!
The Sunday weather starts out fair and goes down hill to PM showers.
.
Bob Keeshan also created another children’s show named “Mister Mayor”. Unfortunately the show did not last and most of the crew was incorporated into “Captain Kangaroo”.
As Jan noted Keeshan was the silent clown Clarabel from “Howdy Doody”
Bob Keeshan was living in Quechee, VT hen he pasted away in 2004.
.
Yup, McPheeters got Hugh Barnnum ho played Mr Green Jeans.
.
Did you ever watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS when it was hosted by Captain Kangaroo?
We had some lovely showers this morning, and another lovely day yesterday……..got up to 60. Took advantage of a terrific sale at my favorite clothing store, and bought 3 new pairs of jeans in my new SMALLER size! WooHoo! This should hold me for a year until the next size change. With all the trips down to San Diego we have planned, the healthy eating plan isn’t as easy. The hotel chain we stay at has a “cooked to order” breakfast, so, that’s no problem eating healthy, and I always bring carrots and celery for lunches……it’s the dinners that do me in. I’ll just have to be more creative.
The RV show was fun, but we bought nothing. The more I looked at the amenities available in a new rig, the happier I was with what we have. Most of the couches were leather (or faux leather) upholstered, and I much prefer cloth. TV sets were in the kitchen, eliminating much-needed cupboard space. There were a few things I would like to amend about ours, but for the most part that show made me much more content with what I already have.
.
It’s a bit windy right now, with the temp about 75. The high is forecast at 84, so it shouldn’t be as hot as yesterday (well over 90).
.
I took my computer in for repair on Friday, and am using Michael’s for my toon tour. Ever since I upgraded from 8 to 8.1, I have been having a lot of trouble with the internet connection. Also, it goes to sleep on me in the middle of my work sometimes. I don’t lose my work because it comes right back at the same place when I turn it back on, but it is extremely annoying when you are looking something up in a hurry! I am waiting for a call back from the repair shop. The diagnostic is free, and the repair is only $119 plus parts. Lots cheaper than Staples where I had the last repair done.
