“Practice”? Where do you suppose Selfy has been practicing such a move? If he’s been using the Narrows Bridge for his practicing, surely the police would have a record of some unknown nut-job appearing repeatedly at the bridge to jump it.
I believe that his jump may be successful but his landing will be rather painful unless he’s taken steps to reinforce the car. I’ve heard stuntmen who have done such have severe back injuries at times.
A good bit of fun, this short run and jump, complete with Gouldian arrow. “That lucky son of a gun!” Sam exclaims. Fahgettabout it, Sam. It’s Tracytown. Always a pleasure to see Sam and Tracy on the case. A recent glimpse of Lizz was also most appreciated. A short chase picked up the pace. Now we have Selfy on the lam with a bag of cash. The possibilities are intriguing. Take another selfie, Selfy. This time a portrait of the narcissist as a fugitive.
Thanks to Gweedo, Jonathan K., Night-Gaunt49, cpalmeresq, Vista Bill, Chris Sherlock and JPuzzleWhiz for the kind words. Very much appreciated.
I guess by this, and tomorrow being Halloween, we won’t see Abner this go-round. Incidentally, “Hazzard” has two zees in it. Boss Hogg just confirmed it and Roscoe P. Coltrane re-confirmed it.
""Narrows Bridge" may have sounded more New York-specific, as I thought yesterday, but today’s art looks far more like any of several bridges over the Chicago River, Chicago being the usual prototype for Tracyville. How Selfy got his stunt-driving experience is an interesting question, one for which we do not yet have enough information to answer. But I, too, wonder what “those odd marks on his car” might be and why we learn of them only in the last balloon of the last panel. Will they provide a lead for Sam and Tracy to follow up? For that matter, does it make any difference at this point? The cops seem to have enough on Selfy already to make an arrest that will stick, even before Chicago’s/Tracyville’s notoriously lenient judiciary (as distinct from federal prosecutions in the city; and, anyway, where have the feds and Fritz Ann been since the death of Rep. Bellowthon?)….

Attempted murder is the rap, haul Selfy to the station.
Sam and Tracy on the case, their squad car picks up speed
Selfy tries a desperate move, hot pursuit creates the need
To take it to the narrows, see the bridge now opens wide
Selfy, he can run away. Narcissism cannot hide.
Selfy makes a getaway He’s jumped this bridge before
Escape Detective Tracy and become the stuff of lore.
Sam and Tracy hit the brakes, put out an APB
Selfy takes a selfie of himself as he does flee.

I’m glad Selfy made it. Otherwise, I was expecting him to see Sweatbox under the bridge.

YE GODS – well so much for my prediction (hope) of Selfie’s doom. But he’s on the lam….either capture or death are his ultimate fate…….
