According to Ben Franklin, they gave us a republic, not a democracy. Unfortunately, we didn’t keep it. (We elected people who don’t represent our interests, just their own.)

Jefferson called it a democratic-republic and part of it was based on the Classic Greek, the other on the Iroquois Confederacy that had existed for some 400 years from before their time.

Our country has become complacent and took our freedoms for granted. So sad.
