    Actually, “fink” is a spy, apparently derived from Pinkerton. How it got the Wizard of Id usage is anybody’s guess.

    If I log on in the dark of the morning, few of the ultimate strings of the discussion have emerged. If I do it at night, I get scooped. About all I can add is a finch is a songbird and a fink is one who “sings”.
