The comparison never comes in so great for you and Elly, either. If only we could’ve had those TV parents!

Technically they were on television, they had animated shows or specials.

The TV is the third parent in the home.

I think the answer is, “Because we have too.”

Lynn’s Notes:One of the best New Year’s Eves we ever spent was the first year we stayed home with the kids. We had a junk food dinner, watched the celebrations on TV, and went to bed just after midnight. The next time we tried this, the charm had worn off a bit, and after that, we let serendipity take her course. The first time was the best time and something to remember.

Only the very young, and naive believe that what they see on TV,or read in go-comics for that matter,is an actual representation of life on earth.

What is everyone planning to do on New Year’s Eve? Since we are fogeys,we will go to bed as usual, and wake up to hear the neighbors shooting off fireworks at midnight. Anyone else?

During the 1960s there were “high concept” shows, which was something highly unlikely to happen in reality, such as My Favorite Martian. One such show was The Second Hundred Years In which an old man discovers his father, who was a gold prospector in Alaska, was in fact frozen solid and melted. When revived, he still looked and acted like a young man.

Do you want your kids relating to other parents? Because that sounds very strange.

My fourth grade class; back in 1950 really was like a “Leave it to Beaver class”
