I fear even more space will be occupied after November.
I love the Republicans’ threats about closing down government if they get in.
If said in a job interview that I’d go on strike if you hired me, I wouldn’t expect to do too well. But I guess I don’t understand the American mindset …
@Kingsowald, the US was originally based on Federalism, where most of government functions (roads, etc) is done by the States. The Federal government is constitutionally limited to a small set of well defined functions. This allows a sort of market competition for government services in that people can move between states.
Gradually, Federalism has been forgotten, and the Constitution ignored, so that the Federal government has taken over the lions share of government (and recently commercial) functions. As a monopoly, it has the pernicious nature of a corporate monopoly - the worlds largest and most powerful monopoly.
So the sentiment to “shut down the government” is just to shut down the federal government and return functions to the states (and private enterprise where appropriate). It is uncertain how much of this goal is politically feasible.
Remember, when you are waiting for the results on 11/2; it was dear old “Uncle Joe” (AKA “Big Brother”) Stalin who said, “It doesn’t matter who votes. What matters is who counts the votes!”
Politicians should take up space the way Kennedy did when he pledged to go to the moon and the USA went there and made our country the pride of humanity.

Correct! Not only do you get an A for the day, but you also got an A for the term.

Of course, taking up space can be rectified. Less than a month to go…

Obviously, we have a lot of scientists in our government, taking up time and space (Physicists), and our money (Economists).

After all, politics IS a branch of show biz.
