G’day Jason, Dry, JFri, Ottod, Meggsiefan, Frank and all Meggsie’s mates.
Yes LS, adventure is everywhere, no matter which yellow brick road we choose. Perhaps that sign is a metaphor of what is/was just about to happen for all of us at Ginger’s or Benny’s age. A really great Meggsie strip.
I wouldn’t want to be that age again, but I’d like to have the verve and enthusiasm. Adventure is still out there, but over time we become more and more accustomed to evaluating reward and risk. You know you’re a fogey when risk always wins.
I laughed outloud today …seems Ginge and I have something in common. When we are concentrating hard on something the tongue pokes out. One of the regrets I do have in life was being too timid to catch an adventure and hold on tight. Good on ya Ginger…
Not altogether sure an Adventure has to be dramatic or even if one has to be deliberately aware of embarking on one.
As a resident of Melbourne (Australia), a fond Adventure for me was to take an overnight train to Sydney and, amongst other things, to travel by ferry across Sydney Harbour and then see an evening jazz concert on a floating stage at Darling Harbour.
Nothing dangerous or dramatic but there was the underlying element of not knowing what the trip would mean for ever afterwards when I started out on it. Certainly, one incident would have movie scouts falling over themselves to get the rights for an opening scene.

Dry: So you read a metaphor too! What is the greater - young and wondering where it might lead or mature and knowing where it did?
