The actual constitution is interesting, it does not allow women to votet, condones slavery, and would probably not allow you to vote either, unless you were a landed gentleman.
I wonder… if there were ever to be a middle of the road moderate show with rational, well thought out ideas and opinions… would it last? It would probably be removed from the air in no time.
“This is WGOP, at the big 69 on your radio dial (690khz MW).
We take time out from the pile of advertisements for rip off corporation’s many subsidiaries to ask for donations to the Far Right Lunatic Fringe radio network that god in his infinite wisdom has provided to tell you our version of the ‘truth’. Please give until it hurts. And if you don’t have money left to buy food, to pay bills, and to pay fines, that’s just tough.”
Ah, the swamp of AM radio. A few of the channels around here were once my favourite conduits for rock ‘n roll music but now they’re awash in political drek and sports. I blame mass media companies who bought out the original local owners and changed the formats. To add insult to injury, we have two FM channels spewing talk. If they’re talking, I’m walking… away.
Strip writers – PLEASE just do fun comics! No one cares about your political thoughts. If you want to do editorials, go to the editorial page. Dang. You just keep the unrest going.
I agree with says t s and ESPECIALLY take offense at the implication, however slight it may seem to be, that all radio talk shows are right wing and wacko. As a veteran on-air radio guy with experience in talk radio, I can tell you that there ARE some very right and some very left centered talkers on radio. But there are MORE who talk about local issues, do fundraising when and where it’s needed in the community regardless of political affliliation, and provide information everyone needs. Think before you write and skip the political coattails. This ain’t no poltical strip!
Because they have audiences. Madison, WI, about as loony-left a city as they come, recently canned its alt-left radio station because no one was listening to it. Right now it’s all Christmas music until after the new year, when it’ll have a new format (yet to be revealed). How wonderfully ironic: Militant atheist Mikey Weinstein lost his bully pulpit to Christmas music! Love it!

“Wacko, right wing talk radio” is, grammatically, a redundancy!
