Washington recommended to the states’ governors to set aside November 26 as a day to give thanks. It was has been a tradition since Lincoln who declared Thanksgiving during the Civil War. Even during those troubled times there was much for which to be thankful. When you feel sorry for yourself, look at what others have or don’t have and be thankful.
