Clayton: Hey, dad. Adam: Hi, Clayton. Clayton: Why're you laying on your office floor? Adam: Just regrouping, son. Sometimes I do this when I need to figure out some hard stuff. Clayton: Makes sense. What have you figured out so far? Adam: Mostly that I don't care for that old ceiling fan.

lying not laying. Sorry, I don’t care how many times you see or hear this, it is still incorrect.

Would someone please remember that it’s “lying on the floor,” etc.! Otherwise, love this strip.

I lied down on the floor to think recently and the first thing I thought was that my ceiling fan needed dusting.

Lying, not laying!!!!! You lie down on the sofa (no direct object), but you lay the book down on the table (the book is the direct object). This is in the present tense, where you are talking about doing something now: you lie down on the sofa, and you lay down a book.

So is that prayer wrong when it says, “Now I lay me down to sleep”? Now I lie me down to sleep doesn’t sound right. Or is it me “lay” you “lie”?I lay down vss you lie down? Man I need to go lay down.

My friend in England scolded me for telling his dog to go lay down. He said that is really bad English, I told him his dog understood it just fine, since he went & laid down LOL
