My Wife’s Father years back was terminally ill and staying in a Hospital for care. The staff could not understand why he was getting worse and would not eat. We went and talked to him, He said that He knew his time was up and accepted it, all he was asking was that they would allow him to have One Glass of Wine with his meals as it was how He had always had. It helped Him to relax and seemed to help with his digestion. That is ALL He wanted and they would not allow it. They said it was against Hospital Rules and wasn’t healthy for him. He said He was dieing anyway so what harm could it do and why couldn’t He pass with comfort and dignity. He was Career USNavy Veteran, a Retired Commander and had fought for and earned His Right to Die Proud and Free not Shackled like an animal in a cage. Well We talked to his Doctor and he talked to Her Father with us and the Doctor fully agreed with His wishes and Authorized Him to have his one glass with each meal. ( He also allowed us to go get him a bottle of his good wine and a Cheese Burger and Fries which He also requested this one last time. ) We went and got the order and when we tried to go back into the Hospital the Nurses stopped us and refused us access to his room, we had to call his Doctor at home and he came ,told them to go look at Her Fathers chart on his bed " Like they are supposed to be doing" and they would see his authorization for this now and the Wine until his time was up! No Further Discussion ! Long story short ,after that He ate all his meals and was in good mood and better health until He finally passed on. All About Respect and Dignity !

What wine pairs well with a midnight snack? Do you have white wine or red with a bowl of Cheerios?
