I used to read Beetle Bailey and think it was funny. Enlisted in Army during the Cold War. (Ft. Gordon, Ga – 1963 – we had a Sp-4 that would have made Beetle look like a work-a-holic!)
One branch that is often forgotten is the Commissioned Corps officers of the Public Health Service. They are the 7th service. They are the ones that go in after disasters and help with medical, veterinary, and mental health services. I know officers who helped after Katrina, worked during the Ebola outbreak and many others.

By Guard, I’m guessing that’s the Coast Guard.

I’m so glad to see the nation’s attitude towards the military change over the years. When I was in the Navy in the 70s we were pretty well despised.

I recognize Beetle Bailey. Who are the others?
Zero and Sarge from the Beetle Bailey strip. Not sure about the 4th character pictured.

Notice the cookie near Nancy’s hand in panel 1, “Jerry Duma RIP.”

I find it amusing that this (lovely) sentiment follows her reading a comic about the most worthless army camp that there is.

Don’t forget our special forces, there are more of them and they are active in more nations than ever before or usually reported.
