Since we can’t post images, I’m trying some text images (ascii images, technically)…

 

I didn’t create them, but I had to do a lot of modifying to make them fit the new GoComics format,

(And also to not shift when people use a different text size. )

 

The first one is a big “Happy Birthday”, “drawn” over several lines of text…..

if you relax your eyes you’ll probably see it.

The second one is a scallop-y design with a bunny in it.

Woo hoo! That cake was [and IS] exceptional…..just spectacular!!…..full of all sorts of little symbols of my…… activities. Love it, love it, love it!! That one was, I think, your tour de force!

for those who don’t know what we mean by “tampering”….

 

StelBel and I started a tradition hereon Ballard Street,

of taking pictures, mostly from the web…..

and sometimes the Ballard Street strip itself,

and modifying them to suit our purposes.

 

We now call that tampering.

And does your margarita need a refill?

We both started “tampering” pictures on other forums too….

Stel notably on “Citizen Dog” and “Pooch Cafe” ……

Me here and there.

 

Since we can’t post pictures, I don’t tamper much any more.

 

StelBel continues her fine work every Tuesday and Thursday at “Cleo and Company,” on GoComics Sherpa.

just keeps the lines of text on separate lines, with no space in between.

 

If you want a paragraph break…. ie, a blank line…….

it’s “enter, enter” ….. then you type exactly this:

 

 

 

[Ampersand, nbsp (which stands for Non Breaking SPace) then a semicolon. Not a colon,]

Then hit “enter, enter” before you start the next line.

 

That makes one blank line, like I just did.

Sounds complicated but becomes pretty quick.

Without letting go of the mouse, Right-click, and click on “open link in a new window”.

 

That should open any link, or picture, on its own page so you can just close it to come back here.

A couple of words might vary in a different browser from mine (Firefox) but you’ll be able to tell what to click.

A message to those using a tablet, a phone, or a Mac: I think you don’t have right click, so you have to copy and paste, instead.

On my Windows 8.1 with IE, here is the cut and paste procedure:

Go to the far right of the address bar line, click on the small vacant box. This opens a new window. The address space is empty.

Susan, the &NBSP is not working. Does it require brackets, quotes?

Anyone having trouble with the spacing code I posted….

E-mail addresses, urls, and html, all being types of code that a computer has to understand, are very precise.

A human may be able to make a guess as to what you mean, but not a computer…

 

That’s why I said “type exactly this.”

 

 

 

I guess I didn’t put into words that “exactly” means yours also must be in lower case letters, with no spaces.in it, to be just like mine.

I did say it has to have an ampersand at the beginning, and a semicolon at the end.

 

Dennis, yours appears to be all in caps, with no semicolon.That’s why it doesn’t work yet.
