    I used to do that… 2010 and 2011.

When charity bosses live in a house as small as mine and live on my pension, I might consider giving.

Members of the Salvation Army DO live in small houses. They should meet your criteria.

I have a jar that I save all my coins in all year. When the bell ringers come out I dump ½ of it in their kettle and ½ into the PAWS Animal Shelter’s donation bowl. The “Starvation Army” is the BEST relief agency in the WHOLE world.

Except that the SA is very actively anti-LGBTQ. They’ve sued to be able to discriminate in hiring because of their religious views. My religion says I should give to charities who don’t discriminate.

The SA literally saved my son’s life. They will always receive my charity. I give to every bell-ringer I see. And MiHorn, choosing to believe what the bible says about homosexuality is not discrimination. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and you have the right to disagree with them. Calling them names and attempting to denigrate the wonderful work they do makes YOU look small.

Give to locally based charities. They need your time as much as money, if not more so.

Somewhere, the good spirit of today’s comic is lost among one or two comments.

Everyone who gives as their heart suggests will receive rewards as their heart requires…

The little child is being taught that giving is as much a part of Christmas as receiving. Wonderful!

I only donate locally, to organizations that I am familiar with, and like what they do. It still helps the needy in my community, where almost all are volunteers, no expense account, no salary. win-win situations, at least in my opinion.

I can’t tell you the last time I saw a Santa working a salvation Army kettle.
