Mmmm. Really good toast. With just the right amount of butter. Maybe almost too much raspberry preserves??? (Although apricot or peach goes pretty darned well with it too). Then I can start thinking about a real breakfast!

That should at least control his day until lunch time. Sandwiches can be tricky.

@pcolli,Reply isn’t working for me right now.I thought I would throw a wrench into the works by stating that a grilled cheese sandwich is hell if you try to make it in a toaster.

I really don’t think that this cartoon is funny!-By me, if I can start the day by doing something positive like making the toast pop up and toasted properly that is reason to celebrate!!

pcolli…. to add to what Happy said….

“Grilling” in the US is generally called barbecuing in the UK….

and in parts of the US, it’s “grilled” if plain, “barbecued” if grilled with a spicy sauce,

In other parts of the US, “barbecued” means smoked and slow cooked…,

in a smoker, a brick oven or a pit, usually with a dry rub.

The Monkey and I had some confusion at first about the yak ribs.

What you call “grilling” … indoors, underneath the heat…. we call “broiling.”

And to make it really confusing, the term can vary with the food…..

Cooking in an open pan with a small amount of fat is called sautéing…

except if it’s an egg, or beef, or pork, it’s called frying,…

but not fish or chicken, unless they’re coated with something starchy and you use more fat.

And if it’s a cheese sandwich you fry in that lightly greased pan, for some unfathomable reason,

    it’s called “grilled cheese.”
