Neither the libs nor the cons who support El Presidente are truly gonna unite this country again like it once was. Rather, it will be those Americans listening to each other who will do so.
It is the moderates in this country that are being shouted down by those in the far side of each party – right and left. They are drowning out the voices of those who are not extreme. It is only once these moderates come together, to elect a candidate that represents all, that we will be able to have a president for all.
I don’t know that we’ve ever been “Unified”. From the start some wanted to remain English subjects, some wanted to be independent. What we had instead was an elaborate system of checks and balances and – usually- a recognition of the need to compromise with the opposition. When that failed, the civil war broke out. Tensions seem to be rising again.
How about looking for your soul. I am sure that Jesus would really be proud of the Tea party and the GOP. The one thing this election showed is the hypocrisy of the religious right.
The promises that trump made overwhelmed their sense of decency totally. But that’s what happens when someone tells you what you always wanted to hear. It sounds like “truth”.
Scott, realize that in one comic you are remorsingover the nations loss of unity, while in another you are complaining about Trump. Wouldn’t unity begin with accepting whoever become president?

Bipartisan cooperation is the only way for our country to become functional again.

The “lost sense of unity” has been with us for decades, but it really accelerated with the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine.

as long as people consider themselves as a Democrat, or Republican first and not American, there will never be unity in the true sense.

We had a sense of unity until leftists started micromanaging the economy and undermined individual freedom. Never coming back without Cal-exit.

It seems that the white part of the Religious Right will side with someone like Trump makes me wonder just what their moral compass is.
