Republicans want a poor U.S. population like a third world country and they want the world’s most expensive military so they can tell everyone else what to do.
Well, it’s inconvenient to have your products produced in China or India, where people are willing to do anything for what would be fast food wages here. Once Americans are paid the same as people in third world countries, it will make the 1% bring jobs back to America. That’s the “trickle down” theory the Republicans have been working toward for a couple of generations now, and it’s working hugely.
The GOP warmed up for this act in their off-Broadway venue of Madison, Wisconsin, back in 2011, when newly elected Gov. Scott Walker demonized firefighters, teachers, nurses, librarians, snowplow drivers, etc. because they were unionized public employees. His compliant legislature rubber-stamped his proposals and stripped government workers of the ability to unionize, and the race to the bottom was on!
Probably more than that as the Plutocracy continues to winnow the Middle Class out of their society. They will regret doing that, but it will be too late for us.
