Let’s see… Y2K didn’t happen because it was dealt with before-hand (we had a computer centre meltdown thanks to it so I can attest it did exist). Avian flu… let’s talk to all those dead people how it was stupid to get worried. SARS… same… Mad cow disease… ditto, discovering that your brain is getting full of holes is so much fun that in many countries it is still forbidden to give your blood if you lived in the UK during that time. Funny how stopping an epidemic or computer meltdown is a bad thing in the eye of some, because if it didn’t happen then there was no problem to deal with in the first time. They should add Ebola to the list.

Let’s add the environmental catastrophes that were predicted for our time back in the 1970s. They also didn’t happen because of the EPA and laws and regulations to curb pollution.

When you say, “All the stuff the media said would kill us…”, you’re being just as hyperbolic as the media. As CTCARO noted, those diseases DID kill some people, and it was preventive action that kept them from killing more. I’m no fan of media hype, but blaming the media for reporting threats that actually exist is disingenuous at best.
