Man: Governor, could you tell us a little about what you believe in? Jerry Brown: My beliefs and convictions are what the people choose to project on me. I see no need for any of my own. Man: But without convictions, how can you address social needs? Brown: There's no such thing as social needs. There are only political pressures. I promise to respond to all of them. The problem is this: we have a leadership crisis in the control tower of Spaceship America. The people want a leader. A leader today is someone who will represent their every whim. Man: I thought that was a follower. Brown: The last shall be first. The first shall take New Hampshire.
