COSTUMED CRIMEFIGHTERS ACADEMY – Online (for the duration of the emergency) Review Lesson #32: Themes. Being that these are visual images from our drones/satellites (enhanced with closed captioning apps graciously donated by Wayne Industries and Stark International – check our Corporate Sponsors page), obviously we can’t hear what’s in the background, but this brings up an interesting point. Many of our graduates tend to have an ear for music, and believe that an appropriate score accompanying their labors is a help to them. This can range from borrowing from classical works (refer to William Tell Overture, J. Reid, Class of ‘33) to jazz pieces (refer to Jazz Variations on Flight of the Bumblebee, Al Hirt, B. Reid, Class of ’36) to brief flirtations with “surf” music (refer to Work With Neil Hefti, B. Wayne, Class of ’39, Dean Emeritus). As some of our graduates become more successful, they can acquire sufficient funds to commission composers to craft original themes (refer to Work With John Williams, C. Kent, Class of ’38, Dean Emeritus, among others). Newer graduates tend to avoid such things as overly ostentatious, if not pompous and condescending to the general public you’re supposed to be protecting. One such graduate – who did not wish to be identified – put it this way: “If you want to listen to something to ‘psych’ yourself up before going to work, that’s one thing; professional athletes do it all the time. But they wear earbuds in case someone else doesn’t like their selection. If someone in the crowd tells you to get lost because you’re listening to Wagner or whatever, it’s kind of counter-productive.” We don’t know what’s playing in our applicant’s head, but with the kid in tow, we hope he’s focused on the road as the chase begins… especially since neither one of them are wearing helmets.
