COSTUMED CRIMEFIGHTERS ACADEMY Dallas (formerly in New York), London, Des Moines Lesson #57: Inner Strength: Although Mr. Warbucks is technically more of a supporting player he is called upon from time to time to do such jobs. You might ask, after being mercilessly beaten to within an inch of his life night after night for the amusement of his captors, how does he suddenly gain almost superhuman strength and a physique more approaching that of Charles Atlas? There are multiple ways for this to happen: 1. Be born on another planet (see Kal-El/C. Kent, dean emeritus, Class of ’38), 2. Exposure to various forms of radiation (see Reed & Sue Richards, J. Storm, B. Grimm, Class of ’61, B. Banner, Class of ’62), 3. Carry a specially-designed energy supplement in a secret compartment (see S.S. Boy, Class of ’64) or supplied by a government agency (see S. Beamish, Class of ’67). There are others; these three are the most common. Bear in mind, however, that most of our graduates have acquired these abilities or resources before attending our Academy. Our primary purpose is to study such rare types, study and document their experiences in order for our students to learn from them and use them properly. We do not have the benefit of government backing (“They ask too many questions,” Agent K, MIB Agency, Class of ’97) and private financiers and backers too often want the resources for their own use.

(I wonder if Boo Boo Krapotnick’s last name was inspired by Dave Berg’s Roger Kaputnik in MAD Magazine?)
