Man: It's certainly great to be working with you again, Walter. I hope I can be of help to your campaign. Mondale: I'm sure you can, Duane. I remember the wonders you used to work for Carter. Man: As I understand it, your chief worry right now is your image problem. Mondale: Afraid so, Duane. With mainstream liberalism in disarray, I've been left without a viable political philosophy or program. Aside from that, though, I'm in pretty good shape. I've got a strong campaign staff, solid financial backing, and the early support of many party regulars. Man: How about your fire-in-the-belly problem? Mondale: Under control. I'm willing to kill now.
