PHANTOM: I don’t recall the former artist drawing P. to look so mean. As I recall, the former artist made P. look stern, rather than mean. I’m not at all sure I like “Mean Phantom.”
FUNKY W: What’s that triangular thing on the horizon? I’m referring to the painting.
Funky Florchi, I hadn’t noticed the triangle until you mentioned it. It does look a bit weird. Did you notice that the clouds in the painting changed from panel to panel?
Mary Worth The comics curmudgeon speculates that this “lets go on a cruise” story line is a paid advertisement from the cruise industry….
Crankshaft I guess I really should stop hoping that this strip gets over being so silly. (Heavy sigh)
Funky – I thought it was a church steeple. It is strange that it’s black. Funky went to Westview High which I believe is in Ohio. So what’s the connection to Dakota wheat fields?
Mark Trail – I’d almost forgotten this was about the black ferret survey.
Phantom – I’m not caring for the drawing or the story. I didn’t know there was a change in artists.
Rex Morgan – What’s to talk about? Not being beholden to Dottie? Sarah really doesn’t like the uniforms?
Judge Parker – Six guards? That’s quite the operation! They probably started grumbling and eventually left because they weren’t getting paid.
I checked back and realize Mike Manley took over drawing Phantom in May 2016. The writer, Tony DePaul, has written it since 1999. He’s only 63 so I hope he isn’t planning to retire and kill off the Phantom.
