Mark: ...And this June, another national milestone will be passed. Yes, it has to do with the baby boom. My guest this morning is Mr. Ernie Bedlon. Why? Well, Ernie was born at 12:01 A.M. on June 2, 1946, exactly nine months after V-J day. Technically, this makes Ernie the first baby boomer and come June the first baby boomer will be turning 40! Welcome and congratulations in advance, Ernie! Ernie: Thanks, Mark. Although really it's my mom and dad who should be congratulated. Mark: I guess that's right. Do you think your parents realizes at the time that in making you, they'd made history? Ernie: Oh, absolutely, even though I was delivered in a sleepy little county hospital, they both sensed something was afoot demographically. My mother even recalls what the doctor said the very moment I was born. Mark: I'll bite. Ernie: "Next!"
