As things now stand, the only way to win is to lose. That’s what Jesus did: he didn’t resist evil—he confronted it, but he didn’t resort to force. He kept turning the other cheek until evil destroyed itself. So now he wants his followers to stop trying to be our own gods but let the Professional do that, and he will help us tweak the place to be a bit more like Eden before he comes and reboots the whole thing, including us.
Right now our major task—the main way we reclaim Eden—is to tell others about God, so they’ll stop trying to fix things themselves, which is how we got into the current mess.
