Rover: Whatcha looking at?
Red: The man in the moon.
Rover: Is there a man's best friend in the moon, too?!
Red: Of course. Who d'ya think dug up all those craters up there?!
Reminds me of the nights I spent with my first telescope, looking out from my window. Except of course, leaving the room light on would do in any night vision, so my room was dark.
And Red, don’t forget to tell him about Canis Major and Canis Minor…
I didn’t have a telescope, but I did read about it all and knew that meteorites dug those craters, most of them. The “mares” or “seas” were created from ancient volcanic eruptions and lava flow.
