Let’s not discount the health benefits of scooting a chair. There is probably more effort involved in scooting than walking, you just don’t have to stand up first in order to walk.
My chair at work has wheels, most people get up to cross the room, I stay in my chair, because That’s how I roll.

At work I am on my feet all day and sometimes I’m running from one end of the store to the others
I think if I knew how many steps I made in a day it would give me fits

Better set a more reasonable goal, say 1000, or maybe 100…..
