I would imagine he carried the lobster, not on a leash. A lobster can live out of water for 2 days if kept moist. So I would imagine the lobster was wrapped in a damp cloth or something.
Very interesting phenomenon about the sea parting. There is a festival for those four days. But it also parts a few times every year between March and June.

It is usually called, “Bark at the Park”. Many MLB stadiums have one day a year where people are allowed to bring their dogs.
