As a teenager, I delivered groceries from a local “Super-ette” via a huge, stake-body wagon with 12-inch tires that weighed at least 100 pounds empty. A $20 order was at least 4-bags-full. Since my neighborhood was all hills, the job wasn’t in high demand, but the ride back to the store was always exciting. And all for $7.50 per 6-day week.
I remember going to the store with my mother and she had five carts filled. Of course I was embarrassed, I was a tween. I do remember that the bill came to @120.00 and was amazed it cost that much. That was a lot of money in the early 70’s.
I remember going to the A&P with my mother and and she would fill the car with groceries for twenty dollars. Nowadays, getting a weeks worth of groceries for me and my wife costs at least $100, if not more.
In Back To the Future II (BTTFII) they showed inflation ridiculously high. It did go up, just not that high. You don’t need a $50 to get a Pepsi Perfect bottle with integrated cap-cup.
When I was first married, over 40years ago, it took $25 to feed both of us for a week, and that included cigarettes! Fortunately, gave up the cigarettes shortly thereafter. $25 will barely buy us lunch at the hot dog place these days.

$20 worth of groceries would not be fitting in one bag either.
