I do believe the sign says: Collect Flowers: Bullet (Least that is what Google translate made of my chicken scratch since it could not detect it by camera)
Having seen where this story is going on Facebook, I can tell you it’ll be heartwarming in the end. Engaging in reductio ad absurdum has long been Breathed’s way.
Ha! That Russian word (where the first three letters are “pyr” as in “pyro-”) is pronounced, roughly, poo-ryoo ( “poor you” :-) ).
My own personal pronunciation of “poor”, I admit, often sounds a bit more like “pore” than it should (poo r). (I’m 3rd gen. American, not in any way Russian.)
It’s Russian slang. Google translate is crap. The last word is pronounced “pool-you” which is a slang word for to steal or rob. It’s a verb, the first person singular, it comes out to mean “I am stealing the flowers”. No idea why it has the colon in it. I’ve never seen it used like that in Russian before, not even in a sign. Unless Breathed was trying to make it say “Do not steal the flowers”. If that’s the case he should have consulted a Russian speaker.

Google Translate wouldn’t take ‘bullet,; but I tried ’Collect flowers. Shoot.’

The sign may be Russian, but Opus seems to be Stalin.
Do I get any Marx for this pun?

I blame it all on Comrade Opus’s poor spelling. —With crayon….

Isn’t it more likely that the Cyrillic is simply an awkward translation of the “Dandelion Patch / No Pickin’” on the other side?

And soon we’ll have bread lines when the FDA is totaled and people can’t buy quality bread except from Trump Bakery, LLC!

A Russian coworker translated this as “gather flowers bullet.” A Google search found the Henry David Thoreau quote, “Gather flowers not bullets.”

“Pick the flowers, take a bullet!” The kind, softhearted Russian way of letting you know what not to do. In Russia, flowers pick you!
Russian idea of freedom: “In Russia, everything not prohibited is mandatory!”
