Economics lesson: Connie is 100% right. Suppose consumers decide to no longer buy swimsuits. It could be for any reason, be it they want to keep using the swimsuits they already own, they are going to save their money instead, they are not going to the beach this summer, et cetera, then the producers will stop making swimsuits, or focus on a new design that they believe people like Elly and Connie will prefer and would be more willing to buy. Point being, the free market is the best indicator about what is popular and in demand.
When those thigh-exposing, bosom-baring bathing suits came out, I was one of millions unwilling to buy one. I waited until the elastic was shot in my old ones before I even looked.
As an owner of a Dad’s bod, I no longer go to beaches and swimming pools. There was a time when I did; back in the 60’s and I loved it. Young women’s bikinis were great then as they are now. If you think bathing suits have gone too far, just take a look at women’s bathing suits of the ‘40s and 50’s; Awful!
I agree with Connie. As long as people are willing to buy this junk they’ll keep making it. It probably wouldn’t be all that hard to make yourself one and then you can make it however you want!
