In all reality , the track referred to in P 2 is the Milford Kennel Club ,Home of Milford’s Finest Greyhound Racing. Gary has a sixth sense for picking dogs. He has been featured many times on Marty Moon’s Day at the Track radio show handicapping the Kennel Club card.
Good one on the Ford Futura reference MiffedMax. Along with the 1960’s futuristic design of The Bucket, it takes me to a simpler, slower time before front yard paperback libraries, old sub sandwich eating wrestlers, smart aleck gymnasts becoming cheerleaders and shooting guard metrosexuals. Yeah. Think I’ll have that Country Time Lemonade with GilPa now.
Well I was going to make a comment asking if track stars were really a big deal in high school. Normally nobody even knows they’re a track star, other than the other members of the team. But I see 5 people have beaten me to it already, so I won’t say it. And speaking of not saying things, it goes without saying that Mopped Up Thorp is the best Gil Thorp changed dialog strip that is promoted on this page.
Also, how is whoever the hell she’s talking to the star pitcher of the team? Considering they haven’t even played a game yet, and as far as we know, she didn’t pitch last year. Or if she did, she certainly wasn’t a star. Boo “Roadkill” Radley was the star and it seemed as if none of the other pitchers were worth squat.

Everyone knows how conceited track athletes are. Especially at Milford, where track is mentioned about once every three years.

Just sitting that close to Gary is giving the girl in p2 a religious experience.

Things didn’t end well for the last star pitcher on the softball team. Helpful hint: Stay away from the Swifty Mart.

P1: Scream Queen Chanel replies: I’m almost damp.
P-2: She chews each bite 100 times
P-3: Maybe he’ll “wish upon a star”.
