We have something akin to this in my state, where Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, the big-business lobby, is always bitching about the horrendous tax climate their poor, poor members have to endure while cutting wages, denying benefits, and busting unions. Yeah, fersher that’s gonna lure more companies and workers to the state, you betcha!
To zippy: Because many of them are coming from more terrible places. And of course the US isn’t a terrible place. It just has the worst elected government by far of any of the wealthy nations, and that government is actively working to make this place worse for us normal folks. Instead of universal health care, for instance, they are trying to go the opposite direction: dismantle any sort of public health care at all.
