I am miffed by comments about using ad blockers – or “going pro” – for two main reasons. One, ads are (likely) the largest source of income for these sites, not unlike newspapers, their analog predecessors. So, hiding ads is not in their best interests. But two, the manner in which these ads are larded into their content, be they “pop ups,” “splash panels,” or just those “hover bots” that like to cover up the very content that we came to see – all of this is well beyond frustrating. It’s as if Go Comics wants us to block their ads! What kind of economic sense does that make?

Use an ad blocker extension for your browser to keep them away.
