He’s got a good point, although that “still in 3rd grade” remark was a bit harsh.
I have no idea what goes into writing a comic strip, but in order to keep the MD strip fresh, I would love to see maybe one or two new ones a week added to what has already been created.
Maria’s line is mild compared to some of the stuff kids say to each other in real life.
The Sundays are still new (mostly- except once in a while when our schedules overwhelm us.) Sadly, cartooning doesn’t make much money, except for a few creators- and some of them are making less in the digital age than they did when the comics were all in newspapers. John and I both have to do lots of other work to keep afloat. That, of course, leaves far less time for two daily strips. Even though we started developing Maria years before I replaced Kyle on Working Daze, WD is still the more established and widely read strip of the two. Something had to give. We regrettably had to cease producing the daily Maria.
The final brand new daily was a one shot tribute To Richard Thompson, and that appeared about eight months after the official ‘last one.’ (It ran July 27th, last year.)
