And Dan credits somebody else in the lower left corner.

    To be fair, though….

To a mind that notices any excuse for wordplay….

like rhymes and synonyms and words one could easily hear ‘wrong’…

this particular pun is very low-hanging fruit…

I’m sure many people have come up with it, and most have secretly congratulated themselves on their cleverness.

Only those who saw and remember the scene from Airplane would know it was used there first….and no, that’s not everybody.

I’ve seen cartoonists get ripped for “stealing” from obscure webcomics and amateur plays they’re not likely to have ever heard of,

just because they came up with an extremely obvious pun one of those sources had already used.

It’s hard to find a pun that’s never been in an Airplane movie, a Frank and Ernest strip or a Kip Addotta video….

yet I’ve not seen all of any of those, and could easily “steal” one without knowing. I probably have!

    Meanwhile…. it’s a keytar!

Well, people, I laughed at the punch line panel. I enjoyed it, Dan. I’ll bet many others did as well. How often do we see something NEW in the comics? Generally I see only the juxtaposition of familiar ideas to create laughs that could be traced to Shakespeare, but I will enjoy it nonetheless. Enjoy the sunshine, my friends.
