    Seriously. I grew up with unsafe playgrounds within 1 km of my home. I had to drive my kids to a playground that was missing most of my favorite devices. Now they just seem to be short swings, short slides and forts. . I consider myself fortunate that my childhood was not considered something that I needed to be protected from.

    Back in the olden days, there wasn’t the statistics collection on playground injuries like there is today. I can remember lots of kids breaking arms, getting mild concussions, and other injuries on playground equipment. I ended up in the school nurse’s office more than once after falling off the monkey bars.

    Actually, it was cool being there at the beginning of personal computers and computer video games. Before that, we only had pinball games, which I only missed the beginning of by a few years…
