    Yup, always meet in a public place first time. Don’t invite someone to your house that you haven’t even met. Of course, this is from a dating service, not a website or app. So there has been a little more vetting, but still…wise plan. I never considered using it as an opportunity to slip out that way. If I end the date, I tell him I’m ending the date. Which is usually because he lied excessively on his profile or used a pic that looks nothing like him.

    Someone once told me that they always paid for the first date – because regardless of how it went, they didn’t want to feel indebted to the other person at the end of the meal. For those who would say, why not just split the check? The answer was – then I’d just be having dinner with a stranger, and who wants that? For the other question of – won’t the other person feel indebted to you? The answer was, I would never collect on that, and they can always even up if there is a next time.
