Hobbes was hoping the element of surprise would work for him.

The game isn’t over until someone calls quitsies.

This strip inspired me when I was younger to tag people “it” after the game (though not when they were sleeping.)

…the Great Game is not over until everybody playing it is dead…

LOVE the quilt! I had one like that when I was growing up.

But! If Hobbes is waking Calvin, then he must have gone sentient! Or at least he’s become the Velveteen Rabbit!

I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen Calvin asleep? He usually refuses to go to bed and stays up all night messing about with Hobbes instead.
