When I we could stand on the deck in the backyard shaking a box of Friskies, and one of our cats would come running home from the next block over

One sight of that car carrier and our cats would vanish.

My son had to put on a winter coat and gloves to get the cat in the carrier.

I used to keep my long-haired, tuxedo kitty confused about what ‘getting into the truck’ meant, for it could mean a trip around the village, a ride for some ice cream or a chance to be cooed over by the local VFW bar-maids..A trip to the vet’s was often snuck in at certain times, and every spring and fall a trip north or south on I-95 was the one that provided the most excitement.. never used a cage..just a towel-covered passenger-seat box so that she could see (and be seen by) the lil’ kids on their way to/from DizznyWorld.

Nope, just an instinct they have regarding the vet visit.

I had one cat that loved to ride in the car…Let’s go to Grandma’s and she was in the front seat ready to ride….only happened once….the rest of my cats have all hated it.
