I understand that this is a comic strip about talking circus animals, but I nevertheless must point out that being shot out of a cannon isn’t flying. If the force that got you into the air and keeps you up there is entirely external , you aren’t flying. Birds fly. Insects fly. Baseballs do not fly.
That said, English is a weird language full of inconsistencies.
