Teaguemj - Can you name anyone who has disagreed with the Republican party who didn’t get called a Liberal? And since you can’t, doesn’t that mean that Liberals are necessary for a democracy? Doesn’t that mean you non-liberals support dictatorships and single-party rule? That’s very un-American of you.

@baslim: I’m with you; perhaps there’s hope. Alex wasn’t always this shallow, flailing about and trying to slide by on the cheap. She was a sharp, precocious little tyke, IIRC. We can hope this insight will trigger a turnaround.

Some folks here, I think, are a bit focused on the story arc with regards to Alex. The bigger picture of the Doonesbury universe is the re-introduction of a number of characters that have been off-camera for quite some time. Alex & her project are just a mechanism that’s helped bring up some history and flesh out some details.   And, good for Alex to try. We all learn and grow the most when we expand our efforts into realms we haven’t been before. Success or failure, it is always worth trying.

So, take the ticket to Telluride and then head from there to either: (*) Aspen (*) Ogden and get a good ski-trip out of it!

ANandy, YOU have a great future with Bob Jones University. Frankly, I’d prefer NPR even with the layoffs.

In addition to the alternative Colorado destinations previously mentioned, she could also come on over to Ouray, Colorado where a lot of people visit to “escape” Telluride. Besides, Don Carlson, the guy who actually draws each Doonesbury strip, hangs out here in Ouray. He draws an image each week in the Ouray County newspaper, The Plaindealer, of a local historical site or natural attraction.

As far as I know, no airline ticket is transferable. If your ID doesn’t match the name on the ticket, you won’t be allowed to pass through security, let alone board the plane.

I’m thinking this story is about cellphone cinematography and cellphone journalism.

If it’s a criticism, then this should be the end of it.

If it’s an endorsement or an acknowledgment of the trend, then Alex will likely get surprised by acceptance to Telluride.

GBT has a long history of identifying and commenting on trends before they become mainstream. Of course, that gets lost on a LOT of folks that don’t see the story for the characters.

P.S. - Is it me, or did somebody delete teaguemj’s post from the first position?

In that case JonD, Alex can skip the getting onward tickets and get a good ski trip out of the whole.

longtimecomicsfan: Yes, someone,(does Garry Trudeau OWN this web site?) deleted my comment. All I did was agree with Alex’s character, that, yes, she was an idiot, ergo, so is the person who created her. I made the mistake of stating my own feelings about him. I called him a liberal. I guess that was too low-down and dirty for some folks. Sorry! I can’t help it if he is a liberal, but I won’t mention it again!
