It seems like about a quarter of the comics on here are repeats … heck, some of them have had the final strip posted for months and nobody has bothered to take them down. Why should Doonesbury be exempt from reruns?
I don’t know how anyone could have any complaints about G.T. He’s entertained and enlightened us for years and he’s still just as good as ever, at least to me. When he takes a hiatus, I pull my Doonesbury anthologies off the shelf and get lots of laffs seeing Clyde as a young sexist or Henry Kissinger teaching a college class (you try creating a new world order young man!), or JJ decorating a men’s room in a disco. So here’s one non-complaint and I can’t wait to see the new stuff that G.T. creates when he’s ready. Long may you run!
jeremy0203-I love the old ones when BD and Zonker are in VN. Or when Zonker got busted in the South for having 3 seeds in his car, and was accused of being a dealer!
Garry Trudeau has been doing this and staying relevent for a long time. I have no problem at all with him wanting some time off and putting us into reruns. I would like to see them go back to classics though instead of these ones that are just barely off the radar. Of course it’s IMO only.
“How much is the fine, Your Honor?”
“How much money do y’all reckon you brought down here with you?”
“Oh, about 50 dollars.”
“Strange coincidence”
“Bad move, Dad.”
That man keeps babbling while the man with orange hair and beard waits for hours. If I were in this man’s shoes, I would tell that man to keep his mouth shut and move on.

Zonker was in Nam??!!! hmmm musta been 67-69 when I was in……. ahhh never mind,
Devoted readers will know that even someone as indefatigable as GBT must occasionally go off for some R&R. This often occurs during school breaks, when devoted parent that he is, he takes the kids somewhere.
Back when Editors actually worked at thriving newspapers, some of them would even add a heading to “rerun” strips, such as “While Doonesbury is on vacation, we are rerunning the following classic.” But if they did not, oftentimes clueless readers, such as moi, might wonder about flashbacks.
So cut the guy some slack. Its hard to be au courant, witty, pithy, AND regular more than 330 days a year.
Besides, I hear he’s past SIXTY now, so he has to be slowing down.
I just wish he hadn’t chosen these strips, as I watch my own unemployment run out!
I’m 51 and I grew up on this strip and respect Mr. Trudeau no end. The only problem I have with it at this time is that nasty little vibrating smiley face ad thing to the right of the comment post box. Dang that’s irritating. Can’t gocomics sell t-shirts or something?
