Like every president and public speaker has used since the invention of television? A teleprompter no more represents Obama than a toothbrush represents Bush. There’s no shame in using technology that was invented long ago and is used by everyone. Limbaugh, as always, makes money by insulting anyone he lays eyes on.
The difference is that Obama needs the ‘prompter to deliver his message. Clinton was a great speaker, and could function brilliantly without it. Bush did worse with it, and was most effective in less formal situations. Obama is scripted so tightly he falls apart without it, as happened yet again yesterday when he skipped ahead of the words.
Regardless of who came up with it, it’s a very legitimate icon for #44. But don’t look for Trudeau to wax satirical on presidential headlines soon. He’s carefully avoided commenting on several very questionable situations recently.
Anyone who dares to speak publicly should be prepared with and follow only scripted responses to avoid aggressive and antagonistic replies from people who will analyse every sentence and word for something to criticize as leverage for their interpretation, chosen truth for bogus beliefs. Even simple minds like Zipper, who don’t understand a scenario or question could interpret a complex question as being ambiguous and “a trick” … meaning, he didn’t read the assignment.

I am SO TIRED of the right-wing LIARS invading the political space and trying to make their nonsense the truth. Shut up, stop watching Fox News, and join the reality-based community. Like Arlen Specter just did. You’ll feel better, trust me.
As for GWB, I remember a comment that B.D. made about Reagan, “He’s every bit as good a president as he was an actor!” and Doonesbury said to Mike, “Care to field that?” and Mike said, “I can’t - it’s too cheap a shot.”
