Yeah, I agree, but you can’t sell the public on a cause unless you sound absolutely certain about everything you say. The voting public, for the most part, doesn’t understand things like statistical probabilities or logical nuance.
If you can’t claim 100% certainty for your hypothesis (yes, I recognize the discrepancy here), the opposition will claim, with a 100% certainty, that your hypothesis is impossible.
